Sherdley Park Forum Meeting (30/06/07)

Welcome sign in Sherdley Park, St.Helens
If you're a user of Sherdley Park (and if not why not - it's fantastic!) you have a special invitation to attend a forum meeting to have your say about the management of the park. The Sherdley Park Forum will be held on Saturday 30th June at 1.30pm in the Arts Centre in the adjacent Sutton High School in Elton Head Road. Plenty of car parking will be available.

Those attending the meeting will be able to discuss how they believe the park could be managed in the future. Further information is available from St. Helens Council’s
Civic Pride section on 01744 456123 or email parks@sthelens.gov.uk.

This is all well and good. Sherdley Park is immaculately maintained by the St.Helens Rangers and the council's Parks and Gardens staff. Hats off to you guys. But please can we have a meeting to discuss the management and security of the nearby and similarly council-owned
Sutton Mill Dam? I suspect that turnout for a Dam meeting would be considerably higher than for Sherdley Park as there is is so much local affection for the Dam and so many issues that do need discussing and addressing. See this post and this post in this blog and a recent St.Helens Star news article (and reader comments) plus this letter. The impression is given that the powers that be don't care about the Dam. This view is most probably wrong but some evidence to disprove it would be very well received!
