The bigger and revamped version of the longstanding St.Helens Show has its second outing in Sherdley Park. The many attractions will include The Lancashire Hotpots in the Music Pavilion and medieval jousting from the Company of Horsemen in the arena.

Full Programme Spread over two days, the free St.Helens Festival will celebrate the Borough’s rich cultural heritage and wealth of talent through a packed programme which includes music, sport, arts, culture and much more.
Attractions with a 'fun for all’ theme will include:
- Children's World with donkey rides, inflatables & entertainers;
- Main Arena with live stunt shows;
- Sports Quarter;
- Country and Heritage Zones;
- Classic Cars;
- Fairground;
The Music Pavilion will host some of the best music and bands that the region has to offer with support from The Citadel Arts Centre, St.Helens Music Net and St.Helens Musicians Collective. The Lancashire Hotpots have been confirmed as the headline act for St.Helens Festival on Sunday 6th July. The flat-capped foursome have become one of the North West’s most in demand bands with their debut album reaching number one in the iTunes comedy charts. (See the Lancashire Hotpots MySpace Profile). Streetwaves
is a
Liverpool Culture Company project that brings
together young people from across Merseyside to
perform locally made music and is open to bands and
solo performers aged between 14 and 25. The three
finalists at the St.Helens Festival are 'Beat box
metal head's Acoustic
Box,
'harmonious spiritual songbirds' Daviglio
and 'maverick
rock explorers', Red
Orchestra who will take to the
stage at the St.Helens Festival in Sherdley Park at
1pm on Sunday July 6th.
The overall winner will showcase their talents,
alongside winners from other Boroughs across
Merseyside, at the Mathew
Street Festival, Creamfields
and
Eclectica
in St.Helens
town centre.

New for the St.Helens Festival 2008, is a brand new Country and Heritage area set to feature a sheepdog display, Civil War Society skirmish, shire horses and falconry & gun dog displays. There will also be a colourful and creative arts programme to reflect St.Helens contribution to Liverpool's Capital of Culture year.

Members of the St. Helens
Heritage Network will exhibit in the Heritage Zone at
the festival in Sherdley Park between 12pm to 6pm on
both days of the St.Helens festival.
Dog owners are being invited to enter their pets in a series of dog shows at the St.Helens Festival in Sherdley Park. You can register your dogs at the RSPCA stand from midday on the Saturday or from 11am on the Sunday. The shows take place from 1pm on Sunday and there are 10 classes:
- The Handsomest Dog
- The Prettiest Bitch
- Dog with the 'Waggiest' Tail
- Dog with the Most Appealing Eyes
- Dog the judge would most like to take home
- Best 6 Legs in the Arena (4 of dog, 2 of handler)
- Best Young Handler
- Best Veteran Dog
- Best Rescued Dog (from RSPCA or elsewhere)
- BEST IN SHOW from all of the classes
Local RSPCA inspectors will be judging the classes and showcasing the work they do at their Warrington Animal Centre and the Vets Clinic in Runcorn.
A weekend for two at
Champneys Springs health spa in Leicestershire is
among the top prizes on offer in the
Big
Giveaway, a free prize draw
which will take place every hour. Other prizes will
include a digital camera, iPod, child's bike, Bob
the Builder toys, hotel breaks, meals etc.
