ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Route: At around 8am the Coast to Coast Express will steam out of Liverpool Lime Street and head east along the old Liverpool and Manchester Railway. After picking up further passengers at Rainhill and St Helens Junction, it continues to Manchester Victoria, where it collects further passengers.

From Victoria the steam locomotive immediately has to work hard to climb Miles Platting Bank and then continues through Stalybridge on the climb to Standedge Tunnel, through the Pennines – one of the longest in the UK. From the tunnel the train drops down to pick up further customers at Huddersfield, then joins the Old Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway to Wakefield Kirkgate. It then heads through Castleford to York where the steam locomotive takes on water. Open-topped buses leave from York Railway Station for tours around the city. You may leave the train at York or continue on to Scarborough.

On leaving York, the train takes the Scarborough line and crosses the River Ouse with views of the Minster. There should be a fast run along the Vale of York before slowing for the curves to follow the river past Kirkham Abbey. Soon it will pass through Malton, continuing from here through Seamer to Scarborough, the most popular seaside resort in Yorkshire.
