Accessibility of Sherdley Park in Sutton?

Generally good. The steepest gradient in the park is 1 in 20. Much of the woodland is inaccessible, however, for wheelchair users but otherwise the paths are fairly easy to manoeuvre. This is Merseytravel's advice:
Wheelchair users will need assistance in leaving and getting onto trains at Lea Green as the train steps are about 8 inches above platform level. The hardest part of this route is presented by the ramps from the platforms, which are 20 feet below road level. The route to Sherdley Park is entirely wheelchair friendly, all on tarred surfaces and should be accessible without assistance. Ramps lead up to a wide pavement at Lea Green Merseyrail Station.
Turn left alongside the main St Helens Road (A569); there’s a footpath sign for Sherdley Park here. Cross the drop-kerb crossings at the traffic lights and continue beside the road, the path shortly bending away into Sherdley Park. Trace this for some 200 yards to the old park entrance gateposts. Turn left here, ignore the wider roadway and then keep left at the fork.
TOILETS are available by Pets Corner and for customers only, the Bull and Dog pub by the station.
Sherdley Park’s parkland is immaculately maintained by the council’s Parks and Gardens Department and very well managed by the Rangers. The St. Helens Rangers based in Sherdley Park regularly host tours of the park’s wildlife. For information on all events call 01744 815586.
