Where Is Sutton Manor Woodland in St.Helens?

Although Forestry Commission signs refer to the site as SUTTON MANOR WOODLAND (or Sutton Manor Wood), it is often simply referred to as 'Sutton Manor'. It's located in the south of Sutton on the site of the old Sutton Manor Colliery and is sandwiched between Jubits Lane, Gartons Lane, Clock Face Road and the M62. The main access points are by the old NCB gates and by the M62 road bridge near the Smithy Manor pub - both in Jubits Lane - and in Clock Face Road, directly opposite the Clock Face Country Park.

Accessibility of Sutton Manor?

The Sutton Manor Woodland has only fair accessibility for those with mobility impairments. Access should be from Jubits Lane at the old NCB gates entrance or by the entry adjacent to the M62 bridge. The paths can be muddy after rain and, at times, can prove difficult for wheelchair users to navigate. There is also a very steep gradient to the top of the Manor Woodland which may prove challenging for individuals with low-level mobility impairments and probably impossible for wheelchair users.
